Hiring a Cleaner for Your Small Business in Kern County
Your customers judge your business by its restrooms and its front counter, so here is how to choose someone who treats both as part of the job.

If you run an office, a shop or a small practice, you already know that nobody compliments a clean business and everybody notices a dirty one. The restroom, the front counter, the entry floor and the waiting area do a lot of the talking before you say a word. That makes the choice of who cleans it more important than it looks on a to-do list.
I'm Jennifer Burden. I clean homes and businesses around Lake Isabella and across Kern County, and I've also worked at a national hotel chain and a small local motel. A shared space with the public walking through it is a lot like a hotel lobby: it has to be right every morning, not just on a good day. Here is what I'd ask before handing anyone the key.
Ask for a routine, not a price
The first question isn't what it costs. It's what exactly gets done each visit, in what order. A good commercial cleaner can describe the routine for your space without notes: which rooms, which surfaces, which tasks happen every visit and which happen weekly or monthly. If the answer is vague, so will the cleaning be.
Every business is different, so the routine should be built around yours. An office, a retail space and an industrial facility don't need the same visit, and we write a custom routine for each one instead of running a template.
What a good routine includes
For a typical small office or shop, these are the pieces I'd expect to see written down:
- Restrooms cleaned and restocked every visit, with fixtures, mirrors and floors all done.
- Entry glass, door handles, counters and other high-touch surfaces wiped.
- Floors vacuumed and mopped, with the entry and main walkways treated first.
- Trash and recycling emptied, with fresh liners.
- Break room or kitchenette wiped down, including the sink and the microwave.
- Desks and shared surfaces dusted, working around papers and equipment instead of moving them.
Then there's the periodic work that no one remembers until it shows: baseboards, vents, window sills, the inside of the fridge, the corners where a mop doesn't reach. Ask how often those get done, and make sure they're on the schedule rather than "as needed."
Timing, keys and trust
Most small businesses want the cleaning done when no one is in the way, early morning, evening or after close. We're available seven days a week from 7 am to 9 pm, so timing is something we can fit around your hours, not the other way around.
Handing over a key is a real act of trust, so ask about it directly. Is the team vetted? Are they insured? Who exactly will be in your building? We are fully insured, our team is thoroughly vetted, and you'll know who's coming. Ask any cleaner you're considering for the same, and be wary of one who gets uncomfortable at the question.
Consistency beats a big first visit
Plenty of cleaners will do a great first visit. What a business needs is the fiftieth visit to look like the first. That comes from a written routine, the same person or small team coming each time, and someone who answers the phone when something is off. One of our customers has told us we keep both his home and his office spotless, and that's the standard: the same result, every time.
Start with a deep clean if the space hasn't been looked after in a while. It gives the recurring routine a clean baseline to maintain, so the first month isn't spent catching up. It also tells you straight away whether the space needs extra attention in places, like the restroom grout or the break room fridge, before those turn into complaints from staff or customers.
Getting started
Call or text (442) 423-5419 and tell me about the space: the type of business, roughly how big it is, the hours it's open and what has bothered you about the last cleaner, if you had one. I'll talk through what a routine would look like and we can set up a walk-through. We use eco-friendly products and serve Lake Isabella, Kernville, Bakersfield and the rest of Kern County.
You can see more on /services/commercial-cleaning. We'd be glad to earn the key. No job is complete until the client is happy, and we make sure of it.
